The dentist your kids ask for.

First visits, big visits, scary visits — handled with patience, gentleness, and zero rush. We work at your child's pace, not ours. Including kids with autism, ADHD, sensory needs, and dental phobia.

How we work with kids

Slow, joyful, on their terms.

01

Tell-show-do

We name every tool ("Mr Whoosh", "the tooth-counter"), demonstrate on a finger, and only then on a tooth. Nothing surprises them.

02

Sensory-friendly visits

Dimmed lights, no bright overhead lamp, weighted blanket, headphones with their music. We adapt the whole room.

03

First visits are short

A "ride in the chair" — count teeth, sticker, photo. No tools required. Builds trust before we ever need to clean.

04

Parents welcome

Younger kids sit on parents' laps in the chair. Older kids choose — most decide they're grown-up enough to do it solo.

05

Reward, never bribe

Stickers, certificates, prize box for older ones. Praise for showing up — not just for being still.

06

Honest with parents

Plain-English advice on thumb-sucking, dummies, juice, brushing battles. Practical, judgment-free.

The visit

A first visit, step by step.

For under-5s and any anxious child. Your call on pace — we have all the time in the world.

1

Meet & explore

Five minutes in the waiting area with the toy box. Then a tour: the chair, the suction tube, the light. Touch everything.

2

Count the teeth

A "ride" up and down in the chair. We count together, look in a hand mirror, and check that everything is happy and healthy.

3

Magic toothbrush

A spinning soft-bristle brush feels weird and tickles. Most kids love it on the first try. If not — we stop, no pressure.

4

Photo & sticker

A photo for the family group chat. A sticker for the chart. A new toothbrush to take home in their colour of choice.

5

A plan, with parents

A 5-minute chat with you, away from the chair. Concerns, schedule, what to watch for. WhatsApp follow-up if questions come up later.

Common questions

Things people often ask.

When should my child first see a dentist?
By age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth — whichever is sooner. Early visits are about trust-building, not treatment.
My child has had a bad experience. Will they cope here?
We hear this often, and our approach is built for it. Expect 2–3 visits with no treatment at all — just rebuilding comfort with the room and the people.
Can my autistic / ADHD / sensory-sensitive child come?
Absolutely — many of our long-term patients are exactly this. Tell us in advance what helps and what doesn't, and we'll plan accordingly.
Should I tell them they need a "filling"?
Please don't use the word — kids hear stories. We'll find age-appropriate language together (often: "we'll paint sugar-bug remover on your tooth").
Do you do braces / Invisalign for teens?
We don't do orthodontics in-house, but we partner with two excellent paediatric orthodontists in Lakeside and refer with a full handover.
